June-August 2017

In the summer after my freshman year, I analyzed data of centaurs—minor planets with asteroid and comet characteristics—to study the conditions under which centaurs become active and display comet-like comas.

I created an analysis protocol and report generator in Mathematica
identifying possible centaur by noting it does not track with the stars

I traveled to Flagstaff, AZ to gain hands-on experience making astronomical observations
we observed asteroids with the Hall 42” telescope

I gave high schoolers studying for the international astronomy olympiad hands-on practice

I did outreach to educate the public about the 2017 total solar eclipse across the US
