I became interested in building technology when I learned that buildings consume 40% of global energy. To better understand the problem, I interned at Transsolar, a climate engineering firm that advises architects on the best practices for designing sustainable buildings that achieve comfort and energy efficiency.

I analyzed weather data and performed solar radiation studies and recommended strategies such as installing installing a solar chimney or rooftop PV panels.

I extended the possible use of natural ventilation in a building and calculated pressure and air flow requirements to specify the ducts.

I attended an all-company meeting at Transsolar’s headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. For three intensive days, we talked about project updates, state-of-the-art technologies, and what the future may look like for the company.
